As part of the changes to the NHS brought about by the Health and Social Care Act 2012, Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) ceased to exist. From April 2013 national changes meant GPs are now responsible for planning and funding a number of local health services.

Across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole, this organisation is called NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) which is made up of all 100 GP practices in Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole, making it one of the largest CCGs in England. For further details on the national changes please see: www.dh.gov.uk/health/2012/06/act-explained/.
