Who we are and what we do
Our vision is to have a healthy population with informed individuals who are living independent, healthy lives. We want to make sure you are supported to take care of yourself and are able to access high quailty support and services when you do need treatment.
Our responsibility is to plan and fund local health services. We do this by working with partners in the local hospitals, GP’s, local authority and the voluntary sector.
Our core values form the foundation for our vision and are expressed in our promise to the local community.
We aim to:
- work with partners to reduce the health inequalities that exist in Bournemouth and Poole;
- promote healthy lifestyles and support individuals so they can best take care of themselves to live longer, healthier lives;
- make sure local residents have the information they need to make sensible choices about their health and well-being;
- work with other organisations to tackle the causes of ill health and provide joined up services that best meet local people’s needs;
- ensure local healthcare services are patient and family centred and that they are provided closer to people’s own homes;
- work with local providers to ensure that all patients are treated with kindness, dignity and respect,in a clean and fit-for-purpose environment;
- ensure that all the services we commission are supported by the best available national and international evidence;
- ensure that staff are supported to have the time, skills, resources and information to offer the highest quality care;
- listen to what the public, patients, staff and partners tell us about ways in which services could be improved.
