Financial support

If you've been affected by cancer your finances probably won't be your first thought. Yet many people find a cancer diagnosis can bring money worries with costs they hadn't considered. Before or after a cancer diagnosis you may be earning less because you can't work or are working fewer hours. You may also have unexpected expenses such as increased heating or medical costs.

Information on help with health costs such as prescriptions and travel is available on NHS Choices.

You and/or your carer may be eligible for other financial help from the Benefits Agency or a charity. This may prove invaluable in helping you deal with some of the practical aspects of having cancer.

Here are some links to organisations in the UK for advice on benefits, financial help, debt and consumer issues.

Other national cancer charities may also be able to assist you.
